Minutes of TRAC meeting, Thursday August 11th, at
the Red Cross office on Gil Avenue.

Discussions:
1.) WIMU - WIMU Chairman Charles Burd reported
status of the TRAC club's sponsorship of the WIMU Hamfest/Convention in
August 4th, 5th & 6th of 2006.
* We are officially approved by ARRL. It is now
listed on the ARRL web page under Hamfest announcements.
* The Virginian Lodge is officially booked. All
rooms will be the 2006 List Price less 10%. 100 rooms and 30 rv spaces are
presently reserved for WIMU 2006 attendees. Virginian will provide
conference facilities for no charge if at least 60 rooms are booked.
* The Virginian Lodge caterer has been advised on
Buffet meal selection for Saturday evening Banquet & Sunday Morning
Breakfast. The Banquet selection will be Prime Rib and Chicken with
all the trimmings at $26.00/Adult and $10.00/Adult for breakfast buffet
Sunday morning. Both buffets will be served in the Banquet Hall. Children
under 12 years of age are 1/2 price for both meals.
* Social Hour/Cash bar at 5PM Saturday evening
around pool area.
* We discussed the need for Forum Speakers & a
Banquet Speaker. Possibilities for Forums: Antenna talks, EME
presentation, DX talks etc.
* Ensuring consistent future WIMU success is a
priority given the inconsistent success history.
* Raffles, Door prizes & Banquet drawing were
discussed, such as items like VHF& HF rigs etc.. ARRL repeater manuals.
* Advanced admission fee, at the door fee & flea
market table fees were listed.
* Printed mailing labels are available from ARRL.
* A Banner ad promoting WIMU is available on the
ARRL web site. Check with Dennis Motschenbacher, K7BV, ARRL Sales &
Marketing Mgr. for details & cost. Later Charles, K7ZOO, web site will

* In addition to the approx $1500.00 seed money
currently available, additional up-front seed money is needed.
Possibilities for solicitation of funds can be through Hams & non-Hams
either local or in the WIMU area. The local Community Foundation was
mentioned as a possibility.
* Bill, NE9Z, was assigned to attain a 5301C
non-profit status to minimize county fees for flea markets.
2.) Comm Trailer HF multi-band beam antenna
installation.
* The club had received tentative approval from
Bill Jepson, county communication specialist, to erect the antenna. Further
discussion by David Dean, W7OID, with the new county EMA coordinator will
confirm approval and discussion of costs for the antenna, associated hard
ware and Delcon installation costs.
Miscellaneous: Not discussed in meeting.
* ARES/RACES Net - last Monday night net
check-ins. Net Control Station David, W7OID plus Bill, NE9Z and Duran,
W7AJK. No emergency or priority traffic was needed. Discussions included
need for 7 land DX QSL card Bureau coverage for club call W7RAC.
