Discussions:
1.) Field Day – Total points for CW, PSK31 & SSB, running 3F-WY, will be announced by Email when the sub-totals and bonus points are merged for submittal to ARRL prior to July 26th. Charles Burd will post the results on the Club Web site: http://www.redgiant.org/w7rac/ .
2.) Repeater – Random unknown interference causes static QRN: particularly in the furthest outlying areas. A narrow pass band filter was suggested to eliminate the interference (?).
3.) WIMU – WIMU Chairman Charles Burd, presented an up-date on initial planning of WIMU for the 1st weekend of August 2006.
The official ARRL application has been submitted to ARRL for a WIMU Ham Convention during the 1st weekend of August 2006. Gail Iannone, ARRL Hamfest coordinator and Rev Morton, Rocky Mountain Division Director, advise they will approve the application and grant permission.
Other WIMU planning needs-
· Availability of lists of Hams.
· Most recent Casper Hamfest attendees.
· Mailing labels from ARRL for select cities in the four-state area by zip code and major Ham Radio Clubs.
· Mailings to be sent three months prior or in late April or Early May of 2006.
· Budget & Seed money.
· Rental facilities – The Virginian Lodge has been reserved subject to final room & RV Park costs negotiation and signing of an agreement. The other option was Snow King Lodge.
· Attain 5301C Non-Profit status to minimize Teton County fees for Flea Market sales.
· Need for an Executive WIMU committee plus additional sub-committee leaders assigned to implement specific needs and functions.
· Possible candidates for a Saturday evening banquet speaker or speakers.
· Flea Market tables availability and cost /table rental.
· Door, Raffle & Banquet prizes. Need to solicit equipment donations from available Commercial Ham Radio equipment suppliers...e.g... Rad Comm, Ross Distributing, Yaesu and others.
4.) It was recommended that we make a Ham Radio presentation to the local Boy Scout Troop to include a demo of making contacts via the Ham radio equipment in the Comm Trailer. Jim Van NosTrand will review our suggestion with the local Scouting Director.
5.) Club QSL Cards – A free sample of our initial QSL card design proposal, including front & back of card, is being forwarded to Charles Burd from Tony, LZ1JZ, the Bulgarian card printer for any changes and club approval prior to ordering 1000 cards.
Next meeting – Wednesday August 10th at the Red Cross office.
